Virtual Support Group
Welcome to our virtual support group! Together, we can embrace body liberation and parenting with courage, compassion, and solidarity.
Body Liberation & Parenting Together is a space where parents and caregivers come together every Wednesday at 5:30 PM PT to share resources, support, and experiences in a compassionate, respectful environment. We focus on body autonomy, positive parenting, and creating a supportive community for all families, promoting body liberation toward healed communities that honor everyone’s dignity and autonomy.

Our peer-led group offers camaraderie, encouragement, and tools for navigating parent-child relationships and processing how the world impacts parents. We empower parents to raise their children with love and respect while embracing each child’s individuality.

We elevate marginalized voices and create an environment where parents and children are free from stigma and harmful expectations. If you’re looking to connect with like-minded parents, Body Liberation & Parenting Together welcomes you.
It's common for the labor of marginalized people to be undervalued. Your contribution makes a real difference in sustaining this space. Thank you.

Facilitation & Confidentiality
-
The facilitator is not a developmental specialist or clinician; this is not a therapeutic relationship.
-
This group is not a crisis intervention. If you're in crisis, please seek appropriate care in your area.
-
Please attend from a private location to maintain confidentiality.
-
If discussing a child, be mindful of their privacy. Share with discretion and avoid revealing identifying details.
Community Values
-
Elevate marginalized voices, including BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, disabled, and the largest-bodied.
-
Parents in this group come from diverse backgrounds and parenting philosophies. We ask that discussions remain nonjudgmental and supportive, even when experiences or choices differ.
-
Be prepared to engage in restorative practices when harms occur.
-
We encourage mistakes as part of learning.
Language & Communication
-
Avoid specific eating disorder behaviors. Sharing generally about ED challenges is welcome.
-
Avoid stigmatizing language, including the o-words for body size and binaries like "always/sometimes," "healthy/unhealthy," "super/junk" for food.
-
Anger is a valid response to oppression, and we recognize its role in social justice work. However, to keep this space supportive, we ask that expressions of anger remain constructive. This is a peer support group, not group therapy, so we aim to hold space without prolonged venting or rants that may overwhelm others.
-
We do not offer direct advice to individuals unless they ask for it. Instead, we maintain a shared list of resources contributed by the group, so everyone can access collective knowledge without unsolicited guidance.
Safety & Boundaries
-
Many folks are mandated reporters. Be cautious that disclosures of abuse or neglect may lead to police involvement. ACAB.
